The method

How the programme works

Children learn to read the beads before they learn to picture them. The bead patterns become mental images, and the mental images become speed. Nothing is skipped and nothing is rushed: every level builds on the one before it, and no child moves up until the arithmetic is automatic.

Teachers keep a written record for every student, so you always know which operation is being practised this month and what to look for at home.

Ages 5–14 · 10 levels · about 3 months per level

01 Free assessment and placement One demo session shows where your child is today and which of the ten levels they should start at.
02 Master the beads Two classes of 60 minutes each week, in centre or online, with no more than 10 children to a teacher.
03 Picture the abacus, ten minutes a day Short structured practice at home, on printed worksheets and in the student portal, tracked week by week.
04 Level test, report and certificate Each level closes with an assessment. Parents receive a written progress report and the child receives a certificate.

Level 1 begins with single-digit addition on the physical abacus. By Level 10 the abacus is put away and the calculation happens in the head. Every child starts at Level 1 unless the assessment says otherwise.
